Life Conference Prayer Guide

life2This morning there are 16 students and 4 adults leaving  for the Life Conference in St. Louis.  This is a conference that is every three years from the Christian and Missionary Alliance.  It was a Life Conference where I received my call to ministry, so this is a significant event in the lives of many.  Here are the ways I am praying this week.  You might be able to pray with us for this and also pray through something in your life this way as well.

“My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.  They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.  Sanctify them by truth; your word is truth.  As you have sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.”  – John 17:15-18

Protection –  When God is at work we do know that the devil attempts to steal and destroy.  As Jesus prays in John 17, we can’t take them out of the world, but we can pray for protection from the evil one.  Please pray fervently for this because there will be areas taken from the devil in Jesus’ name.  This does always stir things up.

Realization –  Pray that students would realize that they as followers of Jesus they are not of this world.  Pray that they are able to be renewed in the identity they have in Jesus Christ.  Pray with this as your guide: “Turn my heart from vanity, from dissatisfactions, from uncertainties of the present state, to an eternal interest in Christ.” – The Valley of Vision ‘The Infinite and The Finite’

Truth –  Pray that they would be sanctified by truth.  There will be truth presented from God’s Word in many ways this week.  Pray for open hearts, ears, and minds. Pray for a renewed love for God’s Word and for a willingness to align to it.

Call-  Pray that God would call many to deeper trust in Him and to service in ministry.  There will be students called to serve both overseas and here at home.  Pray that even for those who aren’t called to be pastors or missionaries, that they would grasp their mission to bring glory to God here in whatever they do.  As Jesus prayed, “you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.”  Our mission is here on earth now.  Let’s be fully engaged in that.   For example, when Elisha was called in 1 Kings 19 it says that the he burned his plowing equipment.  He was not turning back, but was ready to be used by God.  Pray for the same resolve.

Leaders-  Pray for the leaders who are called to serve alongside these students this week.  Pray for strength, wisdom and opportunities to guide in truth.
